Our Name
Our movement of campus ministries finds its identity in 2 Corinthians 5:20.
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God.
We believe that God wants to have a relationship with everyone. Each of us who takes on the identity of “Christian” becomes Christ’s ambassador—or christou apostoloi in Greek. We shortened it to the first letters “Chi” and “Alpha,” or XA. Our name is our constant reminder that each of us has a real part to play in this world. As Christ’s ambassadors, we carry the responsibility to help those around us know about God’s love for them so they can have a relationship with Him.
Chi Alpha Korea
In 2014, our founder arrived in Seoul. She came as a single woman with little knowledge of the Korean language fully reliant on God's guidance. While praying and walking around a university campus, God prompted her to talk to a student. Unsure of whether the student spoke English, our founder did what any of us might in her situation. She kept on walking! But the Holy Spirit wouldn't let her leave. She felt even more strongly that she should talk to that student and turned around in obedience. God used that conversation as the start of a friendship and that student became the first of many to join Chi Alpha Korea. Since then, we have become an established ministry serving college students on several university campuses in Seoul.
Our Vision
To see university students on every campus in South Korea become disciples of Christ who share the gospel and disciple others.
What We Believe
We believe the Bible is God’s message to us, so we seek to understand and obey its truth.
We believe there is one God who is three persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit—so we seek to know Him in all His fullness, complexity, and beauty.
We believe Jesus is fully God and fully human, so we rejoice that Jesus can be a bridge between us and God.
We believe people throughout history have behaved shamefully towards God, so we know that we all broke our relationship with Him through our shameful behavior.
We believe God extends forgiveness and restores honor to us through Jesus, so we turn from sin and rejoice in our restored relationship.
We believe God offers freedom from the shame of sin, so we do our best to live in a way that pleases God.
We believe that Jesus promised every Christian the power of the Holy Spirit, so we live expecting to receive it.
We believe that the power of the Holy Spirit is evidenced by speaking in tongues, and we eagerly ask for this gift.
We believe that God can heal both the body and the heart, so we pray with faith and hope.
We believe in the Church, so we live in this community of faith, inviting others to join us.
We believe God gives leaders to help His Church, so we follow their leadership as long as it agrees with the Bible.
We believe God tells His followers to celebrate communion and baptism, so we practice these symbolic actions, reflecting on their significance.
We believe Jesus will return one day, so we live in expectancy of His coming.
We believe Christ will one day be seen clearly as King on earth, so we live as citizens of His Kingdom now.
We believe God is the ultimate Judge, so we live knowing that our choices have eternal impact.
We believe we will live with God forever, so we live with hope regardless of our circumstances.
